John Houghton Junior Research Fellowship in Sustainable Energy
John Houghton Junior Research Fellowship in Sustainable Energy: Jesus College, Oxford, invites applications for the first John Houghton Junior Research Fellowship in Sustainable Energy, tenable for two years from 1 April 2009 or soon thereafter, with the possibility of renewal for a third and final year. The Fellowship is open to those intending to pursue research in sustainable energy, who are at an early stage of their academic career, typically at post-doctoral level. This exciting new position, sponsored by Sir John Houghton and The Shell Foundation, is designed to enable research in sustainable energy which will form a link between basic research and its application in providing sustainable solutions to energy supply in developing countries in Africa and/or Asia, and/or Latin America. The Fellowship will be linked with either the University's Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division or the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment in the University's Social Sciences Division, as most appropriate.
The salary is on points 28-30 of the UK academic pay scale, starting with point 28 in the region of £26.5K p.a. Free lunch and dinner in College, USS pension, a College study room equipped with computer and printer, and an annual research allowance of £8750 are also offered.
