Guide On How The Different Anabolic Steroids Derivatives Work

Anabolic steroids refer to agents that athletes and bodybuilders use to gain muscle mass, strength, and cutting. They are compounds that promote tissue growth specifically muscle tissues in a very short period. They are also commonly referred to as anabolic androgenic steroids. There exist three types of steroids that include testosterone derivatives, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) derivatives and Nandrolone derivatives.

Testosterone derivatives

These are derivatives of the naturally occurring Testosterone as the parent hormone. They are chemically altered and modified to create variants of Testosterone that are more beneficial than the natural testosterone is when used in a specific area of functionality. They have also been modified to best address the needs of various people in different age groups, gender categories and patients suffering from certain types of diseases and conditions. Dihydrotestosterone derivatives

These are anabolic steroids that use Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) as the base agent for modifications. On its natural state, Dihydrotestosterone does not have any effect on the muscle tissues, which is the reason why derivatives are modified to offer them significant activity and effectiveness in the muscle tissues. The reason why the natural DHT is ineffective in the muscle tissues is because it interacts with the 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase enzyme that deactivates and metabolizes it into 3-Beta Androstanediol and 3-Alpha Androstanediol. The reasoning for modifications is to help the DHT compounds work in the muscle tissues by eliminating the affinity for the hormone to interact with the enzyme.

Without interacting with the aromatase enzyme, the DHT is deemed a very potent muscle builder. A major benefit offered by DHT derivatives is the fact that they do not support Estrogenic activity with the only exception being Anadrol, which has a significant level of Estrogenic activity. The Anadrol exception is not because it interacts with the aromatase enzyme but because it features unique properties that make it act as an Estrogen. The inability to cause Estrogenic effects such as water retention and bloating make DHT derivatives the most versatile anabolic steroids that can be used for bulking, cutting and strength enhancement.

Nandrolone derivatives

Trenbolone is the only commercially available Nandrolone derivate. It is important to note that Nandrolone is not a derivative but the primary base. Anabolic steroids in this group are called as Progestins. They are preferred by athletes because they do not aromatize into Estrogen and have very minimal or no interactions whatsoever with the 5AR enzyme.
